At Fonthill, every child develops the skills to work like a scientist. Through our Science teaching at Fonthill, we encourage children to develop their curiosity as well as positive skills such as independence, co-operation and responsibility. We introduce the scientific skills of observing, comparing and classifying, estimating and testing which progress throughout the key stages. Through their work in this area of the curriculum, children are encouraged to question and hypothesise. They are given opportunities to explore and test scientific ideas and begin to use their initiative when designing experiments themselves.
We have a close link with UWE and have hosted their fabulous ‘Science day’ for the last two years.
